He's been busy with his life. She didn't want to tear him away from school because school is important and it's not easy to miss out on some classes, especially at the beginning of the semester. Sawyer has had a lot of time to think about what would happen when her mom died and how she would feel. It hurts more than she thought it would and everything feels far more hollow than she'd ever imagined, but she doesn't blame Stiles. She doesn't doubt that if she'd called him he would have come back. She didn't want to pull him down.
She shakes her head, trying to fight back her tears. "How were you supposed to know? I don't blame you. Besides, you're here now."
And that's important right now. She takes a deep breath and pulls back a little. "Do you want to come on in? I mean there can be more hugging. I'm totally pro hugging right now, but I should probably let you in further than the foyer if I'm going to take advantage of your hugs."
