While Sawyer is making a very valid point, Stiles still feels terrible. If he was a good friend, he would've been in consistent enough contact with her that he would have known. So he should have known. He should have known and he should've been there for her when she needed him the most. Sawyer isn't completely alone in the world, but he knows that he's one of her closest friends here in Beacon Hills, or was, and he thinks it's kind of inexcusable that he wasn't there for her when she needed someone more than she ever did when he had been around.
