The quick response, the slight jump in her heartbeat, the way he can hear her lashes and knows that she's blinking, those all tell him he'd read this situation wrong.

Slightly uncomfortable, but this is a conversation they needed to have at some point. This isn't the worse thing that could happen though. This isn't bad at all and it probably won't be the first time they misunderstand each other, not if they're going to pursue this relationship. Matt certainly is still planning on pursuing a relationship with Fatima because he likes her. He likes her more than he's liked someone in a very long time.
