He watches Matt nod, his heart breaking a little at Matt's confession. He was always going to come back. He'd been sure that Matt had been as sure of that as he had been. Had even hated the fact that he was pretty sure that Matt had known that all along, but maybe he hadn't.

"You can't keep everyone safe. Doing what you do... it comes with a price. We know that." He sighs. This isn't coming out right. "It's not just your secret. It's our secret. And it's important to me too. You're important to me. So if this comes with the territory, I'm ready for it. If it means that you're safe at the end of the day."

For a lawyer, you'd think he'd be more succinct. "I just mean, ditto. We're not always going to be able to keep each other safe, but that doesn't mean that we won't be there trying when we can."
