She prefers it that way. She prefers that Gansey always seems to stumble with words when around her. He's typically so verbose and articulate, so good at the speeches he gives. From the start, he always managed to say the wrong thing around her. Blue had found it irritating at first. Now, it's one of those traits she finds endearing about Gansey.

The idea had been his, a way to spend the last few weeks of their summer before their first semesters at school started. Blue had been quick to agree. How could she say no? She had always wanted to go to Costa Rica and given her intent to study watershed science after all, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to gain a leg up on her studies. The work has been hard but rewarding. The best part has been seeing how Gansey has enjoyed every second of it, too.

That night, she expects to go back to their hut in the village. When he leads her elsewhere, Blue is dubious at first. She plays along though. Blue trusts him, even as she starts to grow a little concerned the deeper they get into the forest.

"This isn't Henrietta," she reminds Gansey. "Or Cabeswater. Going this far from the village isn't safe."
