Pick one of my characters or drop any of your characters in and get a random choice.
Pick a scenario or use RNG (or make one up if you don't see what you want here).
Have fun!

I. Roadtrip

1. BREAK DOWN. Oh snap. Your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leather-face? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?
2. HITCHHIKERS? Is this even a good idea? Threads may also have a third participant. Go wild.
3. WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST HIT? Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... Or I think that was a deer...
4. DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND. Alas. You're the parent or disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back. This thread may also have a third or even fourth participant, if you can wing it.
5. OMG, I WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS LANDMARK! No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.
6. THE GREAT ESCAPE. Either dinosaurs or the moth-man is chasing you. Don't stop now.
7. MAKE OUT. For whatever reason, the person you're traveling with in the car. You would love to make out with them and then some.

II. Cuddles

1. SWEET DREAMS. It's been a long day and all you want to do is sleep or just rest your eyes for a bit. Hopefully whoever is close by doesn't mind if you use them as a blanket.
2. STORMY WEATHER. The heavy rain, thunder, and lightning won't be letting up anytime soon. Luckily, it's the perfect weather to stay indoors and snuggle up close and keep warm.
3. SLOW DANCE. It's the end of a party, or maybe it's only the two of you, but the tempo is slow and the lights are low. Let your dance partner take the weight and just sway.
4. SURPRISE ATTACK. Time to invade someone's personal space. Are they working too much and need a distraction? Maybe you just wanted to brighten their day. Either way, they won't see it coming.
5. MOVIE NIGHT. It can be on the sofa or in a darkened theater, but you've got your popcorn and someone to settle against during your favorite movie.
6. I LOVE YOU, MAN. It's totally platonic, really. You're just very good friends, no matter what people like to think. But you just love your friend so much you want to hug them, whether they like it or not.
7. JEEPERS CREEPERS. Welp. You were just frightened. Was it a spider in the washroom, a ghost in the attic, a bad dream? Either way, you're looking for someone to cling to right now, and who better than that person right there?
8. HURT AND COMFORT. Whether you're sick in bed, just been dumped, or suffered a traumatic event, you need someone to wrap their arms around you and make everything go away.
9. SUNDAY MORNING. Maybe you just had a wild night. Maybe there's just not enough space at your place and you need to share your bed. Or maybe you just got really tired and someone else happened to be there. Doesn't matter because now the person with you looks way more comfortable than any blanket or pillow. Drape to your heart's content.
10. MOMENT AFTER. You just had incredible, vigorous sex and if you weren't a cuddler before, you are now. You're probably too exhausted to do anything else anyway. Just enjoy the moment.
11. PLAYER'S CHOICE. Pick one or make up your own!

III. Hurt/Comfort

1. INJURY. You've been injured. Broken bones or bleeding out or maybe just a tiny little paper-cut. The choice is yours.
2. SICKNESS. You're sick and laid up in bed, at home or in a hospital. The severity is up to you.
3. FEAR/ANXIETY. Something is happening and you're scared beyond belief.
4. LOSS OF SENSES. Sight, touch, taste, hearing, smell, etc. You've lost some important sense or ability and now you're left to deal with it.
5. DESPAIR. Nothing is good or right anymore and you can't shake the depression. Maybe that friend of yours can help though.
6. MAKE UP. Fight or break up, it's time to make up.
7. RESCUED. You've just been held captive and/or tortured for however long and finally, someone has come to the rescue.
8. BAD ROMANCE. Fight, cheat on, abuse, whatever the case is, someone else can clearly see you need comfort from someone who isn't your terrible lover tonight.
9. LOSS. You've experienced a loss of some kind and need help getting through it.

IV. Texts from Last Night

1.Go here
2. Make Magic happen

V. Intimacy

1. PHYSICAL INTIMACY. It might just be innocent touches or it might be foreplay.
2. LONG CONVERSATIONS. Honest words can be more intimate than touch.
3. DRUNK. You're over-sharing or simply maudlin.
4. FORCED INTIMACY. Magic. A truth serum, whatever - you didn't mean to bare your soul, but that is precisely what you're doing right now.
5. SLOW-DANCING. There is something inherently intimate about trusting someone else to lead you, and someone trust you to lead them.
6. OTHER. Intimacy can come in many forms. Pick your poison.

VI. SENTINEL GUIDE
Prompts
oo1. The Meeting:
How did you meet? Was it at an event organized specifically for finding your other half? By accident? Did you follow a mystical calling to them? Some other way?

oo2. Rejection:
Sometimes Sentinels or Guides propose a match but it's just not perfect. You don't feel the pull or maybe you think there is someone better or maybe you're already claimed. Maybe you were claimed and someone better came along?

oo3. Protection:
Sentinels are meant to protect Guides, any Guides, but it's even worse when they feel their Guide is in danger. They go feral; blind to anything but stopping and killing whoever threatened their Guide or the bond. Maybe someone attacked your Guide or you haven't bonded yet and you feel threatened or maybe you're the one doing the threatening. Whatever the reason, Sentinels in a feral state are dangerous and only their Guides can stop them.

oo4. Lost:
Sentinels often lose themselves in their senses. Either you're a Sentinel who has lost themselves or a Guide that has stumbled on one or a friend trying to draw them out. Unbonded Sentinels will find it hard to escape without a Guide. Or maybe you're bonded already which means you just need yours to come home.

005. Persecution:
Sometimes normal people or the government fear the power of Guides and Sentinels. Guides are empaths, feeling the emotions and sometimes passing thoughts of others and it can make people feel violated. Sentinels often have enhanced strength, which can make them dangerous. So they scorn them, hurt them or in the case of governments, regulate them.

oo6. Old-School:
Guides used to be treated on the same level as slaves. Unable to work unless their Sentinel said. Not allowed out on their own. They used to wear collars and couldn't own land or inherit money. Maybe the old ways haven't completely fallen out of style.

oo7. Unbonded:
Nothing sucks more than being an unbonded Guide or Sentinel. Always looking for your other half to fill that empty feeling but you probably have friends that aren't your match or who are trying to set you up with someone. Maybe you're skeptical about the whole love at first sight thing and haven't been looking.

oo8. Wildcard: Some mish-mash of the above or anything else you can come up with!

She tries not to stiffen when she hears that sharp breath, because she's afraid that if she does, it'll feed into the idea that this is wrong when Lydia doesn't think it is. She's legal and she's too smart; been through too much to identify with boys anymore. They're dimmer, more immature, and they can't begin to understand the life she remembers living before she wound up here. Boys are caught up in lacrosse, bro time, and adding notches to the bed post. Lydia's been there, done that. Matt is so much more her speed. Beyond the fact that she finds him as attractive as she does, she's drawn to his life experience and the fact that he doesn't treat her body like a brand new experience when they're close. The fact that he isn't an overzealous puppy when he's in her presence is refreshing.

Lydia can hear the distraction in his voice and she isn't surprised when he comes back to her age. She leaves the talk about his firm on the backburner because she can tell that's not where his head is right now. For a moment, Lydia chews her bottom lip, because she honestly doesn't know the answer.

"I think so," she admits. "I was eighteen when I got here and it was nearly my birthday, but I don't know if time works the same here. If I was home, I would be," she says honestly. Her expression falls with defeat. "Does that change things...?" she asks quietly.

It might not feed into the idea that it's wrong, but it could give him the idea that she's more uncomfortable with it than she lets on. Matt would agree with her that she's smarter and more mature than the average eighteen or nineteen year old. He doesn't think that it's wrong on an individual basis. Is it okay for any 30 year old to date any nineteen year old? In Matt's opinion, no. It would depend on the nineteen year old. While he's fascinated with her body when they're close, it isn't a brand new experience, at least not in a general sense and he's rarely a puppy when he's overzealous, more of a devil.

It's something they ought to talk about. He doesn't mind talking about Nelson and Murdock, but it's definitely more of a backburner conversation in comparison. Even without his senses, he's fairly certain he can feel her nerves.

He nods a little because she's being logical and honest about this. He hesitates a moment then shakes his head at her question. "I don't want it to," he answers her honestly. "I'm thirty, Lydia." The concern is clear on his face. "Does that change things for you?"

His age actually manages to surprise her. "You're thirty?" she asks reflexively. It doesn't sound scandalized, just curious. In all honesty, she's just been assuming he's in his early to mid-twenties. In her opinion, he doesn't look thirty, anyway. And lost in that thought, it takes her a second to back up the train and remember that he's actually asked her a really important question. "Oh! No. No, it doesn't change anything for me," she says, shaking her head.

Lydia backs it up a little further, replaying his response in her head. Belatedly, she realizes that he didn't say that it doesn't change things, he just says that he doesn't want it to, and she isn't really sure if that's because he's worried about her reaction to his age or if there's more to it. Her lips press together for a moment in thought and she reaches down to remove his glasses, brushing his bangs away from his forehead as she puts his glasses into his free hand for him.

"I don't care how old you are," she admits softly. "I like you. A lot. And I like us. I don't want anything to change." Lydia wets her lips. "Can we just...stay?" The question almost comes out in a whisper, because she's scared. She's afraid of losing him over something that seems so trivial to her, even if she understands why it might not be trivial to him.

He nods a little, listening carefully to her tone, trying to feel any tension in her that might suggest she's uncomfortable with this age gap. "I worked in a big law firm for a couple of years after I passed the bar." He'd been twenty-eight when he'd graduated from law school. He's grateful that she answers his question. He relaxes a little, releasing a breath and some tension that he didn't realize he'd been holding.

Most of it is that he's worried about her reaction to his age. He's also worried about everyone else's reaction to them, if that'll change her mind. He's accustomed to not being in anyone's favor, but he's not sure how Lydia feels about public opinion. He doesn't flinch when she removes his glasses and he closes his eyes when she brushes his hair away from his forehead. He tucks his glasses into a pocket once she gives them to him.

He's listening closely to her, paying attention to more than just her words. He reaches up to cup her cheek in his hand, his palm against her skin. He runs his thumb over her cheekbone then down to the corner of her lips. He nods a little at her words then responds in an equally quiet voice. "Yeah. We can stay as long as you want to."

They'll deal with public opinion and any and all responses to their age difference as they happen.

"That sounds a lot more interesting than 'I finished high school early,'" she says with a huff of a laugh. She's trying to take this more lightly so that he will take it more lightly. Lydia isn't interested in impressing the general public anymore, because she's been through enough that it's impossible not to prioritize the important things in life. What a bunch of strangers think when they look at her just doesn't measure up when she's fought supernatural bad guys and literally felt her best friend die.

It's interesting to her that he can always seem to find her without some embarrassing faux pas like poking her in the eye or sticking a finger up her nose when he reaches for her face like that, but she finds a comfort in it, thinking that perhaps he just knows her face that well now. Maybe they've just become that close.

Lydia leans into his touch and nods against his hand. "Okay, good. I like this too much to let it go now," she whispers back before turning her face slightly in his palm to kiss the pad of his thumb as is passes to the corner of her lips.

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2016-07-22 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
He chuckles a little at her comment. "Perhaps, but given time I'm sure you would have done something incredibly interesting in your world," he tells her. Besides, she's done plenty of interesting things. They just haven't been related to school or a career. "I didn't care much for the big law firm, besides. I was helping guilty people with money get away and screwing innocent people. It wasn't what I went into law for." They've got so much in common without knowing it. He's fought a few supernatural bad guys and a number of bad guys period; he held someone that he might have loved very much while she died. He can't imagine being able to feel someone die. He doesn't want to and he would hurt for Lydia that she had.

Chalk it up to years of practice and senses that are honed to the highest of natural ability. He does know her face pretty well though, and he knows approximately where her head is, where she's looking based on the assumption that she's looking at him. Most people do look at the person they're speaking to unless they've a problem with eye contact, and Lydia doesn't seem to. He even looks in the direction of the person he's speaking too.

"So do I," he says, his voice a little rough at the kiss against his skin. After a moment, he pushes himself up into a sitting position to kiss her properly.

Lydia nods her understanding. Matt seems like that type, in any case, and it's part of why she likes him so much. She wonders if using that particular skill set in the way he likes to use it is going to help or hurt him in Alpha Complex. "That's not what a lot of people probably go into law for," she points out gently. It's just that some people can be driven by the money that comes from taking a job like that and they forget where they came from. Matt, evidently, is not that guy.

With his kiss, all thoughts of whether their age gap matters or doesn't seem to melt away, because she's got him to focus on now. Lydia moves against him, pulling him closer, as she deepens the kiss, because she needs to know that they both know the other really means it when they say that the other person's age doesn't matter. They're happy. She wants to keep it that way.

When she parts from the kiss, she rests her forehead against his, moving a hand up to hold his jaw. "I wish we could've met anywhere but here, but I'll take it," she whispers with a small smile.

If he's careful, it can help him and he can still help people the way he wants to. He's going to have to be smart and sneaky. He's going to have to make use of the blackout spots that he was told about. He smiles a little at that. "So I've been told, but that's why I went into it." Oh, Foggy had pointed out how much money they could be making, but neither of them really had the heart to do what was necessary to make money in law. That had been what he was going for and he's glad that it works for her just as it does for him. He leans up into the kiss, letting her deepen it and falling into that. He's been happy this way so very little in his life. He wants to stay happy with her as well. It might not always be smooth sailing, but hopefully they'll manage to be more happy than not. He's quiet a moment, thinking about that. "I wish we could have too, but I'm not sure you would have noticed me in any other world."

She sighs softly. He's probably right. Not because he's less attractive to her than the people she would normally have been surrounded by, but because her life back home was so hectic that she doubts she would've noticed anyone that wasn't right there in the fray with her. It makes her sadder to think about than she'd like to admit to herself just then.

"I guess that would depend on how we met, sweetie." If they'd passed one another in the street, she doubts either of them would've noticed the other, both blind in their own ways. "I know this place isn't real...and I know eventually, we'll all figure out a way to go home. When that happens, will you be looking for me?"

They live lives that are the same in some very broad ways, but that are also very different in the details. Matt isn't sure they'd ever meet, much less notice the other and it has nothing to do with the attractiveness of the other or the attraction to each other. It's just life.

Her words make him smile slightly. It would depend on how they met. Maybe if their worlds collided, they'd notice each other. "I would. I'd at least want to meet you in the real world. Maybe see if we could be this happy out there."

His answer gives her comfort that she isn't entirely sure she deserves to feel just then. She likes the idea that he'd still want to try back home, but she wonders to herself, taking thoughtful pause to consider it, whether he'd still feel the same about their age gap in the real world where people are constantly watching and judging everyone else's every move. How would it look for him professionally?

And in a similar vein...just how many bricks would her mother shit if she found out Lydia's dating a man eleven years her senior? If Lydia was in her twenties, she doubts her mother would care. ...but she isn't.

"I'd want to meet you in the real world, too," she says, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth before she presses another chaste kiss to his lips. "I think we could be." If they don't pay attention to the worlds around them, anyway. Those could make things a little more difficult. "...we'd be so far away. A whole country between us, right?" She's pretty sure she remembers him saying he's from New York City — that could've been Ray, but she doesn't think it was; she's pretty sure that was Matt.

He can't answer that honestly and he doesn't want to answer it any other way. He doesn't think he would worry about how it would affect his career as his reputation, at least among other lawyers, isn't great. He does think that this thing between them is worth giving it a shot in this world or the real one.

A great many, Matt is sure. This is why he worries about her and the age gap. He worries that there are things she hasn't thought of. He doesn't have any parents to concern. Foggy would eventually come around to being happy for him. He might even not need an 'eventually' to be happy for him.

Those things make all relationships difficult. Matt's real life would make any relationship difficult. It's ended more than one relationship before they ever really got a chance to start. He nods a little. "We would. My practice is in Hell's Kitchen." More than that, he loves Hell's Kitchen. It's his tiny part of the city. "You're in California, aren't you? We'd have to try a long distance relationship." Or one of them would have to move.

Lydia curls against him, now that he's sitting up and has been for a moment, wrapping herself up in his arms. As much as she wants to go home, because she misses her friends and her mom, she's starting to worry that, from the sounds of things, when she goes home, she's going to lose Matt. And Barry. And Steve. And Root. But most importantly, Matt.

She nods against him. "Near San Francisco," she clarifies and bites back her reflexive urge to point out that long distance relationships never work. Instead, she asks a question. "How far is Hell's Kitchen from Boston?"

She'd be in California for however long it took to get the situation with Harvard ironed out again, but then she'd go to Boston. A short pause and then, "how far to Princeton...?" Also not a bad school. She could transfer. Lydia thinks that's in the northeast. Her face lights up suddenly and she turns in his arms.

"What about Cornell? That's in New York!" She knows that because Cornell had been her third choice after Harvard and Stanford; her safety school, actually, however arrogant that sounds.

He wraps his arms around her as well, tugging her into his lap and bowing his head to kiss the top of her head. Matt wants to go home. He knows he needs to go home. Hell's Kitchen needs him and he'd left things so terribly between he and Foggy. However, he doesn't want to lose Lydia.

"A couple of hundred to Harvard, about 50 miles to Princeton." It's a good school. He knows that, but he's not sure how he feels about Lydia changing her idea of her future for him. The idea that she would be closer makes him happy, but he also wants to make sure that she doesn't have any regrets because of him. "Cornell is just about the same distance as Harvard," he tells her with a smile. "Columbia is in New York City. That's where I graduated from." It doesn't sound arrogant. She has to have back-up schools. He hadn't really thought much about back-ups simply because he had to get a scholarship so he'd applied to every university with a decent law program he could find. He'd been lucky his first choice had given him a full ride.

With a soft hum of thought, Lydia considers this. She hadn't really looked at Columbia and she has no idea if it has her focus of study, let alone the reputation for that focus of study. Just because it's a good law school, doesn't mean it'll have a decent science program. She wishes that there was a way to look it up while she was here, so she can prepare herself; make plans. A soft sigh escapes her because she knows that there isn't and a decent chunk of her frustration with this place is all of the not-knowing and inability to plan for how to proceed with her life when she gets out. Of course there's no way; why would there be, when they keep telling the Alphas that all of them are simply clones.

"I guess I've some homework to do when I get home, then," she says softly, tilting her head up to kiss him. God, she loves kissing him. Lydia loves the way that Matt makes her feel. He's blind and yet he's made her feel more beautiful than anyone else has ever been able to. He makes her feel safe and loved and warm. He makes her feel alive.

Matt doesn't know much about Columbia's reputation either outside of it being a good law school. He likes that Lydia wants to plan and to organize. It makes all of this seem a little more real, as if it's rooted in not only this world, but home as well. He runs his fingers through her hair, close to her hairline.

"I guess you do," he murmurs against her lips as he kisses her, his fingers curling against her cheek as he tilts her face into the kiss, deepening it as he pulls her closer with his other hand.

Lydia smiles against Matt's kiss before melting into it. He isn't pushing back or backpedaling as if realizing belatedly that he's made a terrible mistake by giving her the idea that she should change schools to be near him; by giving her the idea that he actually wants to try when they get out of here. ...if they get out of here.

Her fingers are in his hair, scratching fingernails gently against his scalp as she shifts to be even closer to him still. There's just something about Matt that makes her always want more. That apparently makes her want to turn her life plan on their head to accommodate this man into them.

When their kiss breaks, Lydia presses her forehead to his, smiling as she whispers. "Thanks for being the best part of this place."

No, he definitely isn't and it's likely something that will concern him or preoccupy him in the future, but this with her isn't something he's going to regret. He doesn't want out of this simply because of the age gap between them. He simply wants to make sure he's doing the right thing by her. Lydia deserves to have everything she wants in life. He won't be the reason she doesn't.

He moans softly as her fingernails scratch against his scalp and she moves closer. Any and all age gap is forgotten. She makes him feel alive and hopeful, like he has a life worth living even in this place.

He grins as well, pressing a kiss to the tip of her nose before resting his forehead back against hers. "You don't have to thank me for that. I'm happy to be that because you've become the part of my life that I like the most."

The sound of his moan ripples through Lydia like pleasant shock waves and she smiles again when she feels the kiss to the tip of her nose. There's something weirdly exciting about eliciting those sorts of sounds from him, even if — as in this case — they're fairly innocent in nature. It makes her feel desired and there's a flickering feeling of power that she has neither earned nor deserved, but likes to pretend she has for a few seconds just then.

"I guess Friend Computer can do a thing or two right once in a while after all," she purrs, fingernails still raking lightly over his scalp in an attempt to get him to make that sound again, "since we were assigned the same room and all."

It's not something she'd ever have thought she'd admit or would ever want to acknowledge in so many words that she feels, but she's kind of grateful to the Computer for assigning Matt to the room she shared with Dick. She's not sure they would be this close if it hadn't.

Lydia's cheeks warm pleasantly with his words and she presses a chaste kiss to his lips before returning her forehead to his. "Nobody's ever said anything like that to me before," she admits, and the sad thing is that it's true. Jackson said he loved her, but he never said the words. Aiden was just for fun. Her father walked away and her mother's too stressed out. No one has ever told Lydia she's the most anything in their life except "smart." Matt's words are new and exciting to mull over and she gives herself a second to bask in the afterglow of the sentiment.

It is fairly innocent in this case, but that makes her no less wanted or desired.

He smiles a little at her words, leaning his head into her touch, into that divine feeling of her fingernails scraping against his scalp. His words have a hint of that moan to them. "Occasionally, though I'm not sure that it was done on purpose."

Matt is grateful for the same thing. He's reasonably certain they wouldn't have gotten as close if they hadn't shared the same room. It's so much easier to let one's guard down in those vulnerable hours before sleep. They might have gotten close, but it would have taken so much longer simply because Matt doesn't let people in easily.

"Then they were very, very dumb. You're amazing, Lydia and everyone in your life ought to feel that way," he tells her in a whisper as his hands stroke over Lydia's cheekbones and face.

Lydia laughs a little. "Treason!" she hisses playfully before kissing him again, this time soft and lingering. If they don't make light of the fact that everything is treasonous activity, then they'd probably all have gone insane by now. The fact that knowing the rules in and of itself is treason almost makes everything laughable. She wonders in passing how Matt's service firm even exists when he probably has to use the rules when arguing cases, but knowing the rules is treasonous, so once in a while, she wonders hysterically how that even works. And then she lets the thought go because who cared? Practically everything here is stupid. ...except for this; them.

Her eyes close in a slow blink and smiles as she leans into his touch, allowing herself to relax a little more. She's not likely to ever say so out loud, but Matt touching her face is one of her actual favorite things in life these days.

"If you're the only one that ever feels that way, Matt, that's good enough for me," she whispers back.

The laugh and the kiss make him smile. She's got the ability to turn things around for him, to make him happy in spite of everything else in this place that wants to pull him down. She is literally his light in this place. Treason is laughable in this place because of how convoluted everything is, how everything is treason. He has to be very, very careful with what he says and does in the court room. He's not entirely sure how his service firm exists either. Most of the time, he thinks he's here simply to make everyone else feel better.

He knows that she likes it simply from the way she reacts. He enjoys it as well. It allows him to see her in a different sort of way.

He smiles at her words and leans in to kiss her softly, a kiss full of emotion, something to convey how he feels about her. "Then you should always remember I feel that way."

Lydia all but melts into that kiss. She can tell when Matt is trying to convey something through his kisses and she has a feeling he can tell when she's doing the same. So she lets herself get lost in it for a moment, butterfly kisses fluttering over his nose as she does.

Leaning back just slightly so that she can look at him, Lydia smiles. She knows that even though he can't see the smile, he can hear it in her voice. Some people probably thought that was a myth, that a smile can be heard in a tone of voice, for example, over the phone. It isn't a myth.

"I couldn't forget if I tried," she says back softly before giving him another chaste kiss to the lips.

(( ooc: not really sure where to go from here, so I'm wondering if that means this is a good place to call it complete? what do you think? ))
