Pick one of my characters or drop any of your characters in and get a random choice.
Pick a scenario or use RNG (or make one up if you don't see what you want here).
Have fun!

I. Roadtrip

1. BREAK DOWN. Oh snap. Your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leather-face? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?
2. HITCHHIKERS? Is this even a good idea? Threads may also have a third participant. Go wild.
3. WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST HIT? Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... Or I think that was a deer...
4. DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND. Alas. You're the parent or disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back. This thread may also have a third or even fourth participant, if you can wing it.
5. OMG, I WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS LANDMARK! No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.
6. THE GREAT ESCAPE. Either dinosaurs or the moth-man is chasing you. Don't stop now.
7. MAKE OUT. For whatever reason, the person you're traveling with in the car. You would love to make out with them and then some.

II. Cuddles

1. SWEET DREAMS. It's been a long day and all you want to do is sleep or just rest your eyes for a bit. Hopefully whoever is close by doesn't mind if you use them as a blanket.
2. STORMY WEATHER. The heavy rain, thunder, and lightning won't be letting up anytime soon. Luckily, it's the perfect weather to stay indoors and snuggle up close and keep warm.
3. SLOW DANCE. It's the end of a party, or maybe it's only the two of you, but the tempo is slow and the lights are low. Let your dance partner take the weight and just sway.
4. SURPRISE ATTACK. Time to invade someone's personal space. Are they working too much and need a distraction? Maybe you just wanted to brighten their day. Either way, they won't see it coming.
5. MOVIE NIGHT. It can be on the sofa or in a darkened theater, but you've got your popcorn and someone to settle against during your favorite movie.
6. I LOVE YOU, MAN. It's totally platonic, really. You're just very good friends, no matter what people like to think. But you just love your friend so much you want to hug them, whether they like it or not.
7. JEEPERS CREEPERS. Welp. You were just frightened. Was it a spider in the washroom, a ghost in the attic, a bad dream? Either way, you're looking for someone to cling to right now, and who better than that person right there?
8. HURT AND COMFORT. Whether you're sick in bed, just been dumped, or suffered a traumatic event, you need someone to wrap their arms around you and make everything go away.
9. SUNDAY MORNING. Maybe you just had a wild night. Maybe there's just not enough space at your place and you need to share your bed. Or maybe you just got really tired and someone else happened to be there. Doesn't matter because now the person with you looks way more comfortable than any blanket or pillow. Drape to your heart's content.
10. MOMENT AFTER. You just had incredible, vigorous sex and if you weren't a cuddler before, you are now. You're probably too exhausted to do anything else anyway. Just enjoy the moment.
11. PLAYER'S CHOICE. Pick one or make up your own!

III. Hurt/Comfort

1. INJURY. You've been injured. Broken bones or bleeding out or maybe just a tiny little paper-cut. The choice is yours.
2. SICKNESS. You're sick and laid up in bed, at home or in a hospital. The severity is up to you.
3. FEAR/ANXIETY. Something is happening and you're scared beyond belief.
4. LOSS OF SENSES. Sight, touch, taste, hearing, smell, etc. You've lost some important sense or ability and now you're left to deal with it.
5. DESPAIR. Nothing is good or right anymore and you can't shake the depression. Maybe that friend of yours can help though.
6. MAKE UP. Fight or break up, it's time to make up.
7. RESCUED. You've just been held captive and/or tortured for however long and finally, someone has come to the rescue.
8. BAD ROMANCE. Fight, cheat on, abuse, whatever the case is, someone else can clearly see you need comfort from someone who isn't your terrible lover tonight.
9. LOSS. You've experienced a loss of some kind and need help getting through it.

IV. Texts from Last Night

1.Go here
2. Make Magic happen

V. Intimacy

1. PHYSICAL INTIMACY. It might just be innocent touches or it might be foreplay.
2. LONG CONVERSATIONS. Honest words can be more intimate than touch.
3. DRUNK. You're over-sharing or simply maudlin.
4. FORCED INTIMACY. Magic. A truth serum, whatever - you didn't mean to bare your soul, but that is precisely what you're doing right now.
5. SLOW-DANCING. There is something inherently intimate about trusting someone else to lead you, and someone trust you to lead them.
6. OTHER. Intimacy can come in many forms. Pick your poison.

VI. SENTINEL GUIDE
Prompts
oo1. The Meeting:
How did you meet? Was it at an event organized specifically for finding your other half? By accident? Did you follow a mystical calling to them? Some other way?

oo2. Rejection:
Sometimes Sentinels or Guides propose a match but it's just not perfect. You don't feel the pull or maybe you think there is someone better or maybe you're already claimed. Maybe you were claimed and someone better came along?

oo3. Protection:
Sentinels are meant to protect Guides, any Guides, but it's even worse when they feel their Guide is in danger. They go feral; blind to anything but stopping and killing whoever threatened their Guide or the bond. Maybe someone attacked your Guide or you haven't bonded yet and you feel threatened or maybe you're the one doing the threatening. Whatever the reason, Sentinels in a feral state are dangerous and only their Guides can stop them.

oo4. Lost:
Sentinels often lose themselves in their senses. Either you're a Sentinel who has lost themselves or a Guide that has stumbled on one or a friend trying to draw them out. Unbonded Sentinels will find it hard to escape without a Guide. Or maybe you're bonded already which means you just need yours to come home.

005. Persecution:
Sometimes normal people or the government fear the power of Guides and Sentinels. Guides are empaths, feeling the emotions and sometimes passing thoughts of others and it can make people feel violated. Sentinels often have enhanced strength, which can make them dangerous. So they scorn them, hurt them or in the case of governments, regulate them.

oo6. Old-School:
Guides used to be treated on the same level as slaves. Unable to work unless their Sentinel said. Not allowed out on their own. They used to wear collars and couldn't own land or inherit money. Maybe the old ways haven't completely fallen out of style.

oo7. Unbonded:
Nothing sucks more than being an unbonded Guide or Sentinel. Always looking for your other half to fill that empty feeling but you probably have friends that aren't your match or who are trying to set you up with someone. Maybe you're skeptical about the whole love at first sight thing and haven't been looking.

oo8. Wildcard: Some mish-mash of the above or anything else you can come up with!

While Cam isn't sure whether that's legit or just an attempt to make him feel better about it, he appreciates the sentiment all the same. A little Google-fu goes a long way when someone's new to an area and Cam's no exception to that rule.

"I'm used to big cities, but this is a whole other animal," he laughs in response, reaching up to rub the back of his neck. "I grew up in Greenwich and I went to school in Boston, so I'm not a stranger to the concept but...yeah. New York is...something else."

It's the first job interview he's had after a recent move. Usually, he likes to get his heels dug in before he starts looking for a job, but in New York, everything's so much more expensive than he's willing to bet he'll make anywhere at his level of expertise. He'd rather start working as soon as possible and save up everything he makes while their parents are still willing to keep them afloat. It's always been his job to take care of Sophie. He's sure as hell not going to stop now just because she's an adult.

He definitely wants Cam to feel better. He wants him to be comfortable here so that he can get a real sense of who he is and how he'll work here.

Matt smiles a little at that. "Once you get used to it, you'll come to love it. Of course, I'm biased. I've lived here my entire life." And he loves his city. Even more than that he loves his part of the city. Hell's Kitchen is home and it always will be.

It's smart to go ahead and start looking for a job. As he's discovered, it's not the best job climate right now. Matt admires him for wanting to take care of his sister that way.

"So tell me a little about yourself. Why did you move here, Cam?"

Cam smiles a little and nods to himself when Matt tells him that he'll get used to it. He's sure that's true. Boston took a while to adjust to, as well, when he'd first moved there. He doubts New York is going to be a whole lot different in that respect. It's intimidating right now because he's so new to the area, but eventually, he'll learn the fastest routes to where he's going, the best places to order takeout; the good bars to meet cute girls — or guys — without being in a seedy part of town. He'll get there, but Matt's reassurance does settle his nerves a little.

"I'm sure I will, it'll just take some time. I'll get there. I'm going to be here for the foreseeable future, in any case, so I certainly hope so," he laughs.

It's interesting to Cam that in a job interview the prompt to tell the interviewer about himself is followed by asking what made him move to the City as opposed to something about his work or educational history. "Oh, uh...my baby sister just got into NYU. I've been taking care of her pretty much her whole life, so...it felt right to come to the City with her. Our parents are around and everything, but I'm still more a mom and dad to her than our mom and dad have ever been, so it seemed like helping her transition without getting in her way would be the best course of action and moving with her to New York felt, to both of us, like the easiest way to do that, I guess."

Maybe they were a little codependent after all those years... It sounded so much better and less awkward in theory than when he said it out loud to someone who knew neither of them personally.

He can hear Cam's heartbeat settle a little, can hear his breathing level out. He's glad he'd reassured him even though it doesn't seem like a typical interview move. Honestly, this isn't a typical interview. He knows Cam's work qualifications, knows about his schooling. He'd read about it on his resume. He's much more interested in Cam as a person because he's going to have to work with Cam and he spends a lot of time with his co-workers.

As for his question about the city, Matt wants someone that is going to be in New York City long term, someone that might learn to love New York and the people in it. He nods a little as Cam talks. "That's nice, having family here."

There's nothing wrong with being codependent. It's better than being alone, Matt thinks. "And why did you choose law?"

At that, Cam smiles a little, giving a little shrug. "That makes it a lot easier, anyway," he agrees. He doesn't think he could do a move like this without Sophie. He wouldn't want to. Cam struggled enough in Boston with Sophie still in Connecticut; he wouldn't do that again to either of them any time soon. Or maybe ever.

A soft laugh escapes Cam and he runs a hand through his hair. That answer is kind of embarrassing and usually he skirts around the truth and makes something up that sounds more sophisticated, but Matt seems like a pretty easy going guy and he gets the feeling that the more personable discussion they're having in this interview would suggest he cares more about connecting than he does with being sold an image.

"I used to argue semantics and technicalities a lot when I was a kid and it was just me and my mom. She'd try to ground me for something and I'd point out a loophole she'd missed, stuff like that. She said, one time, that I should be lawyer because I'm so good at arguing and that kinda stuck, I guess."

"I can imagine," Matt says with a smile. Moving to college had been hard because he was leaving everything familiar, everyone familiar. He can't even imagine how difficult it has to be when you've got someone you love to leave behind.

He shifts a little, leaning on the desk. He wants honesty and he'd know if Cam were lying. Personable is what Matt is going for. This place isn't going to give Cam any glory and not much money, but it will give him good friends and a lot of experience if that's what he wants.

He smiles at Matt's answer. "So you're a natural. That's a good thing." He takes a deep breath, considering his words for a moment. "As you can probably tell, this place is pretty small, both in terms of size and employees. We don't have legal aids, but we have a receptionist that's really good at helping with research if you need. We all sort of pitch in. Some days we get paid in pie, crates of fruit....live chickens once. I can pay you, but not much. You can do a lot of good here though, if that's something you're interested in."

Cam laughs a little. "Yeah maybe so," he reluctantly agrees. He's a little too modest to agree outright.

He doesn't need Matt to tell him that this place is small; Cam can see that for himself. So he nods a little and gives a small smile. "As long as I can save up so that Sophie and I get a good leg up on our bills fit when she graduates and our parents cut her off, then I'm good."

It isn't like he requires fame or fortune. He doesn't know if he'll stay at Nelson and Murdock forever. All Cam knows, all Cam cares about is making sure he can take care of Soph. Belatedly, he realizes that there an implication in the way Mr. Murdock is talking to him. "Wait, are you offering me the position…?"

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2016-09-16 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Modesty isn't a bad trait. Matt likes that Cam is able to laugh and show some of his personality, some of his humor in this interview. That's what he'd been going for. He knows it's not a typical job interview.

"I'll make sure you'll get that." And he will, even if they have to take some cases that he otherwise wouldn't.

He might get more attention in the press than he bargains for if they ever pull a case like the Frank Castle one. At Cam's question, Matt hesitates then nods. "For the most part. I still want to give you a better idea of what you're getting yourself into and it's a good fit."

He pauses a moment. "A lot of the clients we take were on the wrong side of things and for whatever reason, they're trying to get on the right side. They want a second chance. Yes, we help the lady whose rent is being unfairly hiked, but we also help the gang member on the run that's trying to get his life straight. I won't put you or your sister in danger, but that doesn't mean we're always going to deal with the nicest of people."

It's sounding more and more like this man is actually offering him a job and Cam's heart starts to race a little with anticipation.

Please, for the love of God, give me this job. I won't disappoint you, he thinks and has to make a conscious effort not to actually say out loud. That...wouldn't be very professional, he feels like. If nothing else, it'll make him sound desperate and that's not all that becoming of a job applicant, he thinks.

He lets out a little huff as he relaxes in his seat at that. Okay. So, then he's got the job. This is perfect. Cam doesn't care what it's like, he just knows he wants the job.

All the same, he listens and considers. The way Matt's explaining it to him, Cam can't help wondering what the likelihood of this putting he and his sister in the line of danger might be. Hopefully very low, if these guys are really the way Matt says they are. Dangerous people trying to turn things around aren't as big a threat to safety as dangerous people just straight up being dangerous people, right? "I can handle a sour attitude if that's what you mean..." he replies slowly, not entirely sure that he's understanding correctly what Matt's getting at but not wanting to admit that, lest he sound like some kind of naive idiot or something.

Oh, he's definitely offering him a job. He's just worried that the job will be too much for him, or that he doesn't understand what the job is. Matt can hear Cam's heart racing though and he takes it as a good thing. Cam wants this job and that's very becoming of a job applicant.

Honestly, it depends. His partner was shot because of him, because of a case. Karen has been shot at because of the cases they take. Honestly, it's a dangerous job, but he will try to make sure that Cam gets the boring cases, the ones that aren't as likely to get him shot. Matt nods a little. It's not entirely what he means, but. "If you weren't here, you probably didn't follow the Frank Castle case or the Wilson Fisk case, but things got a little dicey then. Those are unusual. We don't usually deal with cases that big."

[personal profile] respinto 2016-09-28 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The expression on Cam's face gives away the fact that he has no idea what significance those names might carry. He's heard of them in passing, from other law students, but he hadn't ever really looked into them. He does lift his chin in a little half nod to acknowledge the sentiment there, though.

"As long as my sister stays out of it, I'm good," he replies honestly. Cam thinks he can handle himself pretty well between the years of football and martial arts, not to mention that he's six foot five and nearly three hundred pounds. So long as his baby sister didn't get wrapped up in it, he's totally on board.
preemptiveforgiveness: (Default)

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2016-09-29 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)

He doesn't expect Cam to have known anything about the cases. They'd only been important in New York. They were the cases that had put Nelson and Murdock on the map though, cases that still garnered them business.

"That shouldn't be a problem." Of course, he's not absolutely certain of that. None of the current employees of Nelson and Murdock have family to target. "She won't be involved in the day to day workings of the firm so her name shouldn't come up." He pauses a moment. "Hopefully, we won't have cases as volatile as those two any time soon."

His hand hovers over the desk a moment then moves to a manila folder. He holds it out for Cam. "Karen assures me that's all of forms and contracts you need to sign. Salary is discussed in there as well as benefits, vacation and the like. If you'd like to take them home and look them over, you're welcome to. Provided you accept the job, you'll start Monday and meet Franklin Nelson and Karen Paige."

respinto: (and do yoυ тнιnĸ)

[personal profile] respinto 2016-09-30 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Murdock says that it shouldn't be a problem and that's all Cam needs; he's sold. As long as his work and his relationship to his sister are entirely separate entities, then Cam's a happy camper. At this point, he can't really afford to be picky, anyway, so all he can do is hope that Murdock is being genuine. He doesn't know the guy well enough to tell.

"Volatile how?" he asks as he takes the folder from the other man, opening it and looking down as Matt is telling him that it's basically all of his new hire paperwork, should he want the job. Cam looks sharply back up at the other man, his eyebrows lifted with surprise. He actually is giving Cam the job.

Cam shakes his head before remembering that the other man can't actually see him doing so and his jaw goes slack for a second while he tries to force the words out. They're caught in the back of his throat because he can hardly believe this is really happening; that it was so easy.

"No, I want it. I want the job, I want the job. I can fill these out right now, I want the job, for sure."
preemptiveforgiveness: (Lawyer by day (Negotiating))

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2016-09-30 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Cam can keep them separate and Matt would encourage him to do so. It's the best way to keep anyone safe. He'd unintentionally dragged Foggy into this and Karen had been in it from the moment he'd met her, but if he doesn't have to bring anyone else in, he won't, not to the dangerous part of things. He's got every intention of keeping Cam out of the dangerous parts.

"Frank Castle is a vigilante who rounded up a good number of the gangs in town and killed them. Wilson Fisk ran every crime ring in Hell's Kitchen. Volatile." He's actually giving Cam the job.

He can't see him but hears his breath and the way he has a hard time getting the words out.

His enthusiasm makes Matt smile. "Good. We want you too. Now, I'm assuming you want to go tell your sister. We'll see you Monday and congratulations."
